**Many things should jump out at you in this statement:
1. Who's going to decide what care is too "expensive?"
2. Who's going to decide what procedures are "ultimately futile?"
3. At what point will people be deemed "about to die?"

All of these questions come with scary answers, because they point to government bureaucrats playing God.

Heaven forbid your grandparents need some "extra care." I can also see a point in time when the eugenic nut-jobs get put on the case and decide there are many others who don't necessarily need "extra care"...It won't be 'just' the elderly who are singled out for not needing "extra care," there will be others; particularly babies born with special needs who will require "extra care," whose lives might be determined to be relatively "futile" and a little too "expensive" to care for.

As a person who works in the medical field, I find all of these concepts of 'RATIONING' health care to be heinous. Especially since I've seen so many miracles performed at the hands of American doctors with modern technology to cure and improve the lives of so many whose lives would probably be considered "ultimately futile" by government hacks whose sole responsibility is cutting costs.

For 'fun,' I hope you will look into the Groningen Protocol; Don't think for a minute Barack's health care bean counters won't look at this option...And don't think for a second that you or someone in your family couldn't fall prey to these ghouls.**
