Andrew Garfield & Gavia Baker-Whitelaw (Future Oscar Winners)
"I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ...And I was like, 'What if MJ is a dude?' Why can't we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It's hardly groundbreaking!...So why can't he be gay? Why can't he be into boys?" - A.G.
- "MJ" = Mary Jane, "Peter" = Peter Parker...From Spider Man.
"So, the chances of Peter Parker coming out in Amazing Spider-Man 3 are more or less nil. Hollywood isn't yet to produce a big-budget blockbuster with any kind of LGBT character in the lead role, never mind have an established hero come out after decades of heterosexuality." - G.B.W.
Just what we need, Spider Man to come out of the closet. Oh what a web that would spin.
Here's an idea, if Garfield and Baker-Whitelaw want to have a gay super-hero they should put their money and reputations on the line and create one...Then they should seek out like-minded funding to produce a movie.
That's the way everyone else does business. If these guys think it's such a grand idea they should put their money where their mouths are...And by all means they should make their super-hero super-gay - 'LGBT-Man/Woman: Saving the Folsom Street Fair from Radical Rightwingers' - or something like that.
I'm sure this movie would be a blockbuster - seen by hundreds...Though I have no doubt, even if no one went to see the movie the Academy Award jokers would give them an Oscar.
Sort of like Obama winning a Nobel Peace Prize.
