Hillary Shelton (NAACP)
"This really is a tactic that undercuts the growth of your democracy...[It] undercuts the integrity of our government, if you allow it to happen. It's trickery, it's a slight-of-hand. We're seeing it happen here and we don't want it to happen to you, and we are utilizing the U.N. as a tool to make sure that we are able to share that with those countries all over the world."
- Part of a message from the NAACP to the U.N. Human Rights Council, criticizing U.S. states requiring voter ID's.
The NAACP going to the HRC for anything is pathetic. Must be in dire straits for cash if this is how far they have to go for a little attention...Heaven knows most Americans are sick of their whining, so maybe it makes sense to go to the degenerates in the U.N.
Speaking of the degenerates in the U.N., what a complete joke the Human Rights Council is, with such sterling member as: Saudi Arabia, China, Cameroon, Indonesia, Congo, Russia, Cuba, etc...A real 'Who's Who of human rights champions'.
What I really want to know is does the NAACP make anywhere near as much noise about people having to show ID's when cashing checks, picking up mail at the post office, buying alcohol and cigarettes, getting a marriage license, boarding a plane, driving, etc, etc., etc.? Do they feel it is a terrible 'human rights violation' for Americans to have to prove who they are when performing such basic functions?
Maybe they do....But if they do, and they claim to be protecting 'colored people', then they must have a terrible opinion about the basic human abilities of 'colored people'. Which seems terribly racist to me; another example of "the soft bigotry of low expectations." - G.W. Bush
