We Dodged a Bullet!

The 2016 Election produced the most improbably results most of us could imagine - Donald Trump as Prez, Republicans keeping the House and Senate, Republicans picking up Governors in the states, and soon Conservatives will control the Courts as well (lower and SCOTUS)...A truly remarkable turn of events in American History.  I do not believe in Providence, but I'm truly not sure what else can explain it.

Unfortunately, I do not believe for a minute that this turn of events is enough to pull us out of our downward spiral as a nation.  Those who pay attention know I've said:  We will only pull ourselves back up after we hit bottom.

We have not hit bottom!

Donald Trump and Republican control of the levers of government are not going to keep us from hitting bottom...They may slow our progress to the bottom - which is no small achievement and shouldn't be scoffed at, but they will not stop us from continuing to fall.

- Our debt may as well be infinity, because it is unmanageable - the American people will never agree to the level of pain it would take to fix it.  There will be a day of reckoning and it will be terrible...We have a 'lucky number', but no one knows quite what it is.

- Our culture is debased.  Anyone who denies this is either blind or likes the debased culture.

- The world is spinning out of control - a world we incredibly kept in check for almost 60-years, which is a miracle, but a miracle that can't last forever.

- Our youth is the worst generation in American History - a high bar to cross, but they've done it...And we can't blame anyone other than ourselves and our parents for raising them.  They will be the next leaders of our nation.

That said, had Hillary Clinton been elected she would have kept us on our fast, steady, fall to the bottom...Because she has been part of the leadership which has gotten us here, and would have done nothing to fix the problems.  Instead she would have continued to push the same old policies, which would have just kept us racing to the bottom - or created new ones to speed up the process.

Nothing shows how out of control we are more than the riots going on in our cities after Trump was elected.  And yes, they are riots.  'Peaceful protests' do not include destruction of property and injury to people...These people are not proponents of our democratic republic.  They believe in pure power - when it is in their hands ONLY!  They cannot accept that there are people who aren't like them - not racists, bigots, homophobes, etc., but simple people who aren't like them.  Simple people who don't like where those they support have taken us.  Simple people who don't want the country to hit bottom in their lifetime.

The fact that electing Donald Trump as President of the United States keeps people like Hillary Clinton out of power means we have temporarily eliminated from power people who empower the people like these rioters...If nothing else this is a positive.

We dodged a bullet.  Unfortunately, it is only one bullet.  There are many more coming our way...Who knows how long it is till one hits us right in the head?  When one does, we will hit bottom.

Some might say that's a good thing, because we could begin to climb out...Careful what you wish for.  Hitting bottom will be painful to every one of us.

Below is the post I created the day before the election, in the assumption that Hillary would win, along with Democrats taking control of the Senate...In other words, the post I was planning on making if we took that bullet to the head.

I thought some of you might be interested in seeing it...I take none of it back.  If Hillary had won, it would have been our reality.

Congrats America!  You've earned the pain you are going to receive...Sadly, our children and grandchildren will suffer most from our sloth and ignorance.  Even more disturbing, they are going to play a great role in our pain.

Put away Francis Scott Key's "Star Spangled Banner"...We have a new "National Anthem."  Who would have guessed it would have come from Metallica's new album?
