Michael Petruzzelli (Mental 'Midget')

It's not acceptable to call people the N-word, just as it's not acceptable to call people the M-word...The chosen term now is L.P., or little person."

- The "M-word" in reference is 'midget.'

**I feel for the physical plight of 'midgets, ' but 'midgets' who are worried about being called 'midgets' need to get over themselves. There is nothing wrong with the word 'midget.' Plus, the phrase 'little person' makes them sound pathetic and helpless...Maybe this is the goal. Maybe 'midgets' think if they are defined as helpless they'll qualify for some kind of disability, with a diagnosis of L.P.'ism.

Are we to change the language every time someone is offended by it? Do we have to fall into the idiocy of political correctness on everything? Well, of course we do...Because the mental disorder of Liberalism has become an epidemic in our country.

For the record: As a matter of respect for 'midgets' and the belief that 'midgets' aren't pathetic or helpless, this blog will never use the phrase 'little person' in place of 'midget.'**

Welcome back Pero. Glad to see vacation has recharged your batteries and you jumped right in. There has been PLENTY of liberal asininity while you were gone!!

I have stacks and stacks of reading piled up from the time I was gone...I'm sure there are many, many gems in there. Sadly, most will hit the trashbin due to lack of time and space.

Plus, I'm trying not to give so much play to Barack...He is such a rich target, however.

Good to be back. I'll be on my normal Mon/Wed/Fri routine for awhile. Don't see any upcoming vacations that'll pull me away in the near future.

It is easy to be frustrated by political correctness when you are not directly affected by a particular slur.

However, as the father of a child with dwarfism, I would be sympathetic if my daughter were called by a name - any name - that was demeaning to her. I think any people group has the right to define what they wish to be called. I also think it can be helpful when a people group can develop a self-deprecating humor about the names which they are called, but that the people group in question should be able to determine for themselves when it is OK to laugh; not to have others laugh at them from the outside.
