This comment was made during an assembly at Boulder (Colorado) High School; 14-19 year old students.........I wonder what the basic reading, writing and math levels of these teenagers is? I'd bet good money it's not as high as it should be. But at least they'll be well educated in bongs and poontang.**

When you come after Joel Becker, you had better come with something more powerful than demagoguery and a quote taken out of context. Dr. Becker is one of the world's most respected psychoanalists, and he has done as much as anyone for the advancement of mental health science and communication between the generations. If you live four lifetimes, you will not accomplish a tenth of his scholarly work. He speaks authoritatively from first hand experience with many hundreds of cases of adolescent and young adult drug abuse. And by the way, he's not a liberal.

Thanks for you input, Scot008.
1. Don't care if he's a Libby....but I'll check into your claim that he's not.
2. I have no doubt he has more scholarly work than I ever will....When I was an Air Force medic I saved more lives than he has.......We all have our claims.
3. The quote was the quote. He made it, not me.
Sure he tried to water it down by saying something to the effect that 'it was inevitable that these kids were going to do drugs and have sex anyway.'
But it was irresponsible, and he should know better......As should you.
I have a 13 year old, and I am very open with her.......But we work from a position of "DON'T" not "DO" when it comes to drugs and sex at her age.
And I'm not a religio, so please don't assume I do this as a religious nut.......I do it from a purely physical and mental health basis.

from someone who has PARTIED HARD with Joel Becker PHD on more occasions than I can count I can attest to the ABSOLUTE FACT that I have on countless occasions seen him snort a line of CMeth and take a shot of vodka as he left his home after pulling an all nighter to get to the office to make an appointment. Certainly not someone who I would want counseling me....I was there---many many times, both in Boston and LA.....
