Americans United for Separation of Church and State

"Government at every level must represent all citizens, Christians, Jews, Atheists, Muslims and others. Courts, city halls and other units of government should refrain from displaying religious symbols because such actions send the message that the state has a favored religion and that people who do not share that faith are second-class citizens. Under certain conditions, private groups may have the right to display religious symbols on government property (as long as that right is extended to all), but it is not the job of government to promote or display religious iconography. The display of religious symbols and the spread of religious messages belongs to America’s clergy and their houses of worship."

-- The group's official take on "Religious Symbols on Public Property"

**U.S. Constitution, First Amendment:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

No part of the amendment states there should be anything even close to "FREEDOM FROM RELIGION" or "SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE".........Read it as many times as you want, and you can't get this definition unless you completely revise the text to meet your needs.

These ideas came about in the early 1900's.........During the formation of the Soviet Union.

And it is almost humorous (sick, sad, etc.) how Liberals manage to forget the second part of the statement:

"...or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."**
