Baby It's 'HOT' Outside

As we get closer to constant 100-degree days (and nights), here in Phoenix, I'm reminded about Global Warming/Climate Change.  For the record, I am not a Climate Change Denier.  I believe in it 100%...Nor am I a denier that man has had a role in Climate Change.

"The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years.  If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000.  This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age." - Kenneth Watt (1970)

Ice age?  What the...I thought Warming is our biggest fear?

"The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climate change once the results have become grim reality." - Newsweek (April 1975)

Make no mistake, Climate Change has been a 'concern' for a long time...But you also need to understand the 'concern' hasn't always been about 'warming.'  The Newsweek article was also about the fear of Global Cooling, and an oncoming Ice Age.

Not that any of this hysteria began in the 1970's.

"The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer, and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot.  Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone...Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable." - Washington Post

That Post quote could come right out of the mouth of Al Gore, or any of his other modern-day Climate Changer pals...In reality, it's a quote from the Washington Post on November 2, 1922.

Interestingly, their cause celebre was the 'seal,' which has been replaced by the 'polar bear' in our time.

"(There is a) 10-year window of opportunity to solve (Global Warming)...Entire nations could be wiped off the earth by rising sea levels if the global-warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000." - Noel Brown (U.N. Environment Program)

Somehow we've made it 15-years past the predicted doomsday scenario...Whew!  That was a close one.

"If there is no action before 2012, that's too late.  What we do in the next two to three years will determine our future." - U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (2007)

The world didn't take any action, and 2012 has come and gone...I guess we're all screwed now.

At the top I said I'm not a Global Warming/Climate Change Denier.  I am not.  I am also not a Global Cooling Denier...And I'm certain man has had a role in altering the climate in many ways, as well.

I have no doubt the earth cools, heats, and everything in between.  What I do doubt is humanity has become so pathetic that it can't deal with anything other than a naturally occurring extinction event**...In other words, I'm not a gloom and doomer who thinks we can't cope with the earths many changes - because human beings have always adjusted to these changes, which have been a constant through all of human history!

"[S]ea levels have been slowly rising since the end of the Little Ice Age around 1850.  Coastal cities have not disappeared, though, because in the normal course of constantly rebuilding structures and infrastructures, we have been elevating them.  For the most part this is not a piece of some grand master plan...but the basic fact is that 'new' cities are constantly being built on top of 'old cities,' a practice that has gone on for at least a few thousand years." - Richard W. Rahn

Question:  Under which condition does man do better?  Warming or Cooling?

Answer:  You better believe the answer is Warming.

At least this has been the case for the entire history of humanity.  If nothing else, even if the seas did reclaim coastal regions we could always retreat to the interior of the continents - and we'd still be able to grow food.  Water would also be plentiful from the melting of snowcaps...The same cannot be said for a period of Cooling, which would tax humanity in much harsher ways than Warming.

Question:  Who has the most to lose if Warming occurs and the worst case scenarios of massive coastal destruction occur?

Answer:  The super rich...And I'm not talking about the $250k/year, Obama-speak rich.  I mean the super rich.

Poor and middle class coastal dwellers have little to lose in value, and will retreat to the interior with relative ease...The world's super rich, however, have property on the coast.  Not just living property, but also business and investment property.

Hmmm?  Just a little something to think about.

Question:  What has the Left been correct about in the last 100 years?

Answer:  Uhhhhh...Anything?  Can anyone name a single 'gloom & doom' scenario they've had which has occured?  There have been many, but I'm betting you can't name one which has actually happened.
Enjoy your summer, and try not to worry too much about our CHANGING PLANET...For many thousands of years humanity has proven itself capable of changing with our planet.  It's almost impossible to believe we've become so weak (mentally, physically, and in every other way) that we can't continue to do so - no matter what earth throws at us.**

By all means, don't get sucked into the ridiculous gloom and doom jackassery spewed out by the Climate Change clowns.  Clowns with an agenda - an agenda 99.99% of the people who have ever lived, and will ever live, truly don't understand:  The 0.01% exerting Control and Power over the 99.99%!

By the way, that's another historical norm.
------------------------
**Maybe I'm way wrong, and modern Liberalism truly has made us this pathetically weak...If so, we don't deserve to make it through whatever happens.
