Prager University: Extra Credit Assignment

"We teach what isn't taught." - Dennis Prager

I hate to admit it, but I'm nowhere near as optimistic as Dennis.  He believes America is in a state of decay or temporary decline, but can reverse itself and return to its former greatness without bottoming out...I do not.  I believe America is in a permanent state of decline.  It may have positive blips, but the overall trajectory is down.

Part of the reason is we had it so good for so long.

Luckily, the U.S. will continue to ride above every other nation for a long time, because they either haven't begun to peak (possibly China & India), will never peak (most of the world), or they are further along on the way to the bottom (Europe & Japan).

That said, I do believe America has a chance to be great again after it hits bottom - if its people are willing to return to a closer state of being what it was when it was founded than what we have become.  And what have we become?  We have become a degenerate, lazy, empathetic, ignorant and dependent people.  In other words, we have become the one thing our Founders wished to escape:  We have become Europe.

The ultimate proof:  We need to import people to save us from our degenerate, lazy, empathetic, ignorant and dependent selves...In the past we brought in immigrants to add to our strengths.  Now we need them to cover up for our weaknesses.

Unfortunately, there won't be an upswing in America's state in my lifetime, and maybe not even in that of my children...Neither of our current political parties can save us from hitting bottom, and regardless of which party is in power, the fall will continue.

For those who are 'glass half full' types, you should vote for Republicans, because they will get us to the bottom slower...For those who are 'glass half empty' types, you should vote for Democrats, because they will get us to the bottom faster.

Personally, I'm beginning to wonder which is better/worse:  Getting to the bottom faster or slower?

Think Rome after the Battle of Adrianople.

"As one who loves America - not only because I am American, but even more so because I know (not believe, know) that the American experiment in forming a decent society has been the most successful in history - I write the following words in sadness: With few exceptions, every aspect of American life is in decline." - D.P.

Your Prager U. Extra Credit Assignment is an easy read (less than 2 full pages):  America's Decay Is Speeding Up

"If you acknowledge that American society is in decay, it is your obligation to fight to undo it. If you can't acknowledge that American society is in decay, you are providing proof that it is." - D.P.
