POISON PERO's ELECTION GUIDE
The 2014 Mid-Term Elections are about a month away, so I hope this is helpful.
First, I want to go over a basic truth in American politics - one which is true for better or worse in every city, state and national election.
YOU ARE VOTING FOR A POLITICAL PARTY - NOT INDIVIDUALS!
Most Americans deny this reality, because they hate the thought of its simplicity, but it is true...Almost every Republican politician votes with the Republican Party 80-100% of the time. Almost every Democrat votes with the Democrat Party 80-100% of the time.
If you can't accept this reality, you can't accept the American political system...Either way, it is true.
Also, none of us know the various candidates we are going to vote for. And you surely can't be foolish enough to fall prey to the stupid commercials and advertising they throw at you...All of the candidates lie about their own successes, failures and plans, and they lie even more about their opponents. It's unfortunate the very core of American politics (from ALL sides) is lying, but it is what it is. And you shouldn't even bother paying attention to any of their lying campaign promises and smears.
So, voting for individuals in any of your respective elections (city council, state representatives, governors, federal congressmen and senators, etc.) should be a very simple task - you should be able to fill out your entire ballot by asking yourself one question:
DO YOU LIKE THE POLICIES OF BARACK OBAMA, NANCY PELOSI & HARRY REID?
If your answer to the above question is 'Yes, I do like the policies of Obama, Pelosi & Reid' then by all means you should VOTE FOR EVERY DEMOCRAT ON YOUR BALLOT.
Doing so will ensure you get MORE of their policies.
The key word in that question is POLICIES...Who cares if you think they are good people, talk well, look good on camera, etc.! What matters is the policies they will create and enforce on the back of YOUR vote.
DO YOU LIKE THE POLICIES OF BARACK OBAMA, NANCY PELOSI & HARRY REID?
If your answer to the above question is 'No, I do not like the policies of Obama, Pelosi & Reid' then by all means you should VOTE FOR EVERY REPUBLICAN ON YOUR BALLOT.
Doing so will ensure you get LESS of the policies of Obama, Pelosi & Reid.
So, vote for whoever you will, but be honest enough with yourself to vote for reality: If you like the policies of Obama, Pelosi & Reid, vote for every Democrat on your ballot...If you do not like the policies of the Obama, Pelosi & Reid, vote for every Republican on your ballot.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE EITHER PARTY - DO NOT VOTE FOR AN INDEPENDENT!
You may think this is a good idea, but the Independent most likely has no chance of actually winning, and your vote will only help the candidate their policies are most closely aligned with; Democrat or Republican - it's probably why they are there in the first place: As a stalking-horse against one or the other major candidates...SO, YOU MAY AS WELL VOTE FOR THAT DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN!
I am not advising you who to vote for...I am simply reminding you that you are not voting for the individuals on your ballot. YOU ARE VOTING FOR THAT INDIVIDUAL'S PARTY. You are voting to support or not support Obama, Pelosi & Reid.

Arizona Ballot Propositions (I live in AZ, but this review is true for every state)
Ballot propositions are a disgrace, and are a means to two ends:
1. They are used by the state and local legislatures to push their job off on the people...Most often when they don't have the guts to make a tough decision, and want to be able to blame the people when things go wrong.
2. They are used by various activist groups to push their pet projects around the state and local legislatures to the people.
Even the ballot propositions I may like are wrong.
America is a representative democracy - not a direct democracy...We elect representatives to do a job, and we should not allow them to not do it. We should also not allow activists to go around our elected representatives.
Also, almost every ballot proposition EVER has unknown poison pills...This is by design, because those who create these propositions are counting on the FACT that the people have no idea what is in them. Instead they are banking on the people falling for political trickery - which unfortunately happens far to often.
VOTE NO ON EVERY BALLOT PROPOSITION!
-----------------
Arizona Judges
Voting on judges is insane, because we know even less about these individuals than we do about those running for political office - not that judges aren't political.
So, I rely on the 'Judicial Performance Reviews'...Almost all rate out just fine, but there are two who stand out as terrible (I have no idea why or what their politics are, but both received completely failing grades):
VOTE YES FOR EVERY JUDGE...EXCEPT:
- Pima County Superior Court Judge Catherine M. Woods and Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Benjamin R. Norris.
Both rated way under 30% - one was 0%...Throw these two losers out.

Good luck, America...We're gonna need it.
