"Even-handedness dictates that we provide public recognition to minority cultures and traditions."

"If we are going to continue as a nation to mark Christmas - and it would be very hard to expunge it from our national life even if we wanted to - then public organisations should mark other religious festivals too."

"We can no longer define ourselves as a Christian nation, nor an especially religious one in any sense."

"The empire is gone, church attendance is at historically low levels, and the Second World War is inexorably slipping from memory."

**I know most Americans couldn't give a damn what a bunch of Limey's think, but the statements and strategies above are exactly where the American Democrat Party hope to take us.......It isn't hard at all to imagine any Democrat making these statements.

Sadly, it also isn't hard to imagine these same Democrats trying to put such statements into action if they win the presidency and keep both houses of congress in the 2008 election.....Not hard at all.

And guess what? Unless Average Jane's and Joe's like you and I get off our asses it's going to happen right under our noses.**

"The empire is gone, church attendance is at historically low levels..."

Hmm. While it may be possible that church attendance is low in the U.K., it doesn't appear to be so in the U.S (at least, where I am observing). Also, there is a movement afoot with a younger generation that refers to themselves as Christ followers and not so much "Christians" in an attempt to reclaim Christianity from those that have tarnished the faith.

With the rise in popularity of podcasts and webcasts, the Christian church is reaching out to people all over the world. Check out Erwin McManus at mosaic.org in Los Angeles, Rob Bell at Mars Hill Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and North Phoenix Baptist Church @ rhinocrash.org. These Christ-centered communities are leading a whole new experience through technology.

So if it means that physical attendance is down...well...maybe, but I don't think physical attention is. There are more "Christian" rock bands played on mainstream radio than ever...Lifehouse, Creed, Flyleaf, P.O.D., Switchfoot, and Chevelle.

Have you seen how many churches are in the Phoenix area? We have churches gathering in schools* and in vacant retail spaces in strip centers with make shift vinyl banners and temporary road-side signs.

Besides...who has the clicker counting people as they walk through the door of "the House?"

    * this would be a violation of Church and State...if there was such a thing.
