Bill Taverner (Editor of the American Journal of Sexuality Education, and Director of the Center for Family Life Education)

"What does abstinence mean? When did it become a bad word? And how can comprehensive sexuality educators teach about abstinence when everyone has a different idea of what it means? This interactive workshop will demonstrate the importance of helping young people create personalized definitions of abstinence and apply its meaning to decisions in their lives."

-- As quoted during a presentation at the 2005 Teen Pregnancy Prevention Conference description for "Making Sense of Abstinence"

**Only a Liberal could convolute the meaning of “abstinence”…….But then again, these are the same idiots who redefined “is” to mean “is” while at the same time not meaning “is”.

No wonder so many teens have no clue how to control and protect themselves.......Those given the task of educating them are handing them more disinformation than anything else.**

I do not see this quote as problemmatic at all. There are a lot of people who say they are "abstaining" who do sexual things. Doesn't anyone remember Bill Clinton?

I agree. What's the problem? So many kids have different understandings of abstinence. Kids think abstinence means vaginal virginity and so participating in oral sex is abstinence (I'm a public school teacher, I know). From what I've found on the internet, Bill is a leader in sex ed and promotes abstinence and honesty.

Lets be good conservatives and support those who support abstinence.

I actually went to his workshop and he has fully researched this. On, I believe, page 11 of his book there are 25 different definitions for abstinence listed all from sources that we rely on.
