Prager University: Profits Are Progressive

"We teach what isn't taught." - Dennis Prager

There is no denying there have been, and still are, some true profit-pigs.  Names like Rockefeller, Morgan, Vanderbilt, and Carnegie come to mind in the past.  Names like Gates, Jobs, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Oprah, etc, should ring a bell for our modern times.  These mega-billionaires truly live the life of the Roman emperors; lives almost every person in the history of the world couldn't/can't even dream of.

But these people could never have gotten so rich had they not produced a product or service people wanted to buy.  These people also could never have gotten so rich had they not employed so many people.  This is the genius of profit...It is why millions of immigrants flood our country.  They may dream of becoming billionaires, but they know it is unlikely.  What they hope for is to enter the middle class - a level of affluency they have almost no hope of enjoying in their own countries, where profit is limited to very few, and the middle class is almost non-existent.  But in American, with a profit-based economy, we have produced the largest middle class in the history of humanity.  Sure there are profit-pigs, and sure there are truly poor.  But the majority of Americans are middle class - the result of a profit based economy...If Liberals ever want to see the middle class shrink, they only need to find ways to kill our profit based economy.  Oh, I forget, they constantly do just that.

That said, can anyone explain to me why so-called Liberals and Progressives never seem to complain about the profit-pigs who espouse their Left-wing ideology?  Look at any list of American millionaires and billionaires and I'm quite certain you will find far more Democrats than Republicans...It's not even close, yet we only hear about those on the Right.

And one more question.  Why is it so-called Liberals and Progressives complain far more about small business owners making $250K than they do about their pals in the entertainment, sports and media industries making $$$millions?  Hmm???

This semester of Prager University is presented by:  Walter Williams

"Thank goodness for profits.  Profits motivate people to work hard for themselves, and make life better for others." - W.W.

"The profit motive pushes people to do extraordinary things.  Take that motivation away, and the world becomes a very different and darker place." - W.W.
