Matthew Rothschild (Editor of 'The Progressive')
"I don't believe in patriotism. You can call me unpatriotic if you'd like, but really I'm anti-patriotic. I've been studying fascism lately, and there is one inescapable fact about it: Nationalism is the egg that hatches fascism. And patriotism is but the father of nationalism. Patriotism is not something to play with. It's highly toxic."
**Why did Matt go through all the long-winded crapola when trying to tell the world what he is? Three simple words would have stated exactly what he is and how he feels about America...He should have simply said: 'I'M A LIBERAL!!'
Nothing more. Nothing less. Nothing special. Nothing exceptional...Just a typical Liberal.**

I would reply that a nation without Patriotism really doesn't exist, or at least WON'T exist for very long. Without it, there isn't much of a reason for the people to pull together for the 'good of the nation'. Of course, the problem is that liberals SAY they do things for the nation, but what they do is rarely good for the nation, but instead, is good for themselves or for the advancement of liberal ideals and causes. These ideals and causes will then do much to tear down a nation because the liberals have no patriotism and therefore no loyalty to their country. Maybe this is the reason there are so many conservatives in the military!

I always wonder about the thought process of Liberals when they say they want to "bring the troops home."
That might be their worst nightmare, considering most of the military is Conservative.
