PETA (Anti-Circus Propaganda)

- Quotes from PETA's "An Elephant's Life" comic book campaign, handed out at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus......Aimed at children.
**Elephants have been used by humans for thousands of years as beasts of burden or war machines......Seems to me carrying around midgets at the circus is a pretty simple way of getting fed and cared for. Much easier than ways they've been used in the past.
PETA is just looking for an ax-to-grind. Truth be told, if the circus quit using elephants PETA would start campaigning for the maltreatment of dogs, horses, tigers, etc...........Heck, they may even take up a campaign to protect the poor circus-freak humans contorting themselves into pretzels.
Hey PETA, take a day off, enjoy the freaks and animals at the circus, and have a nice steak for dinner on the way home..........Or don't. But either way, quit trying to propagandize children.**

Pero, This is going on all the time in our schools, often without the parents knowing anything about it. It is a rather insidious campaign to, as you say, propagandize our kids behind our backs. GOOD schools will notify parents and allow them to opt out of this type of indoctrination, but they aren't all good. Also, they will sometimes camoflage the fact that it is a PETA rep that will be at the school. That is why we have to stay informed about what is going on at our kids schools....and this is from a teacher!!

Great points, Bucs......Which is one of the many reasons I have my kids in a charter school.
It would take a lot of balls to try and pull something like that in a school of less than 600 (K-8), where 1/2 the parents are on campus at least once a week.

Good for you, Pero. Wish I could do the same for my kids, but the options around here are Public, expensive Private, or homeschool and Public is the way we had to go. Doesn't hurt that this is where I teach, but my wife is on campus several times a week, too! Would be hard to slip something in on either of us!

I didn't realize Peta was so offensive. I believed their propaganda because they seemed to have authority. Until I ran into their Iams Cruelty campain.
I contacted Iams and received an email back with alot of links about what Iams is doing and how. Turns out Iams is a very reputable company and they have documentation to prove they treat animals humanely.
I feel stupid now, how can Peta's garbage be stopped?

Gotta say, I've done a lot of research on the subject and you don't know what you're talking about. Did you even take the TIME to look at the circuses.com I mean, try doing some research. NewsFlash: Lots of proof about abuse in circuses. They don't ONLY campaign elephants, they campaign for all the animals in the circuses, but elephants get the worst abuse because they are too large to train in other ways. Also you will probably just delete this comment because negative feedback on your stupid website isn't good for you, but I don't care. I just wanted you to know you're wrong.

What a load of bull crap from PETA any circus is not going to abuse or mistreat their animals since its part of their livlyhood their animals are well treated and PETA is telling a whole pack of lies to school kids with the crappy comics and parents should be more aware of this and not allow PETA to come with in 25 feet of their kids unless they want trouble

That is absolutely false. Circuses do not treat the animals well at all. Ringling has been fined huge sums for abusing their animals, in 2011 the fine was about $500,000. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about and have done no research on this issue. Some advice: don't go around making claims that you are uneducated about, you just spread misinformation and end up looking foolish.
